Parenting Bedtime should always be a pleasant experience. Announce that bedtime is coming ahead of the time so the child can finish whatever he or she is doing. Be flexible--bargaining is always good. "I'll trade you one more puzzle for off to bed right afterward." Learning A child learns to speak words by listening to others. Generally this is mom or dad since they are with the child the most. So talking to your baby is very important, especially relating it to what is happening at that time. "Let's change your pants now." "Shake your rattle." "Look at you standing up!" Fun This was a family favorite for years and this was dad's job. Empty a can of frozen orange juice into a blender. If the directions call for 3 cans of water, put in only one plus 2 heaping cans of ice. Now add a few drops (and only a few!) of food coloring (your child gets to pick the color). Add a small amount of almond extract or cherry or whatever and blend. Of course your child sits on the counter and gets to help, especially pushing the buttons on the blender.
